I devise and facilitate creative workshops in a variety of contexts. I work with schools, community groups and corporate organisations to explore themes and experiences and achieve specific aims and objectives. Sessions might include mosaic, drawing, collage, banner making, cardboard sculpture, wire sculpture, willow sculpture, junk modelling, papermaking, mask making, bookmaking and more. See below for examples of recent projects.

Carr Children's Centre Mosaic Project 2008:

This was a project for Arts Action York to make a welcome mosaic for the new children's centre. I facilitated mosaic workshops with parents and toddlers and primary school children, in which each made a square mosaic. The individual squares were then joined together in strips and grouted with black grout. The mosaic will be installed at the school in February 2009 at which time I will photograph it in position and post an image of the final outcome here.

Bradford Willow lantern Parade 2008:

As part of a team of artists working with Artworks who were commissioned by Bradford Council, I facilitated willow lantern making workshops with primary school children and families so that a hundred children could be involved in making the lanterns and parading with them for the Christmas lights switch on in Bradford.

Bradford YOT Summer Arts College 2008:

I delivered various sessions on the Bradford YOT summer arts college, themed ‘Who am I?’. These sessions included cardboard sculpture, collage, drawing and painting.

Bradford Early Years Play Strategy Flags 2008:

In collaboration with another artist, I delivered arts and crafts workshops to children at a childminders, an after school club for primary age children and a youth group at SNOOP (a special needs outreach project) in Bradford. Images from the sessions were made into flags to go in Centenary Square, Bradford, for the launch of the new play strategy.

Cartwright Hall Lions 2008:

I delivered a session with the Responses adults group, exploring wire, cardboard and working in three dimensions. Participants made work on the theme of Lions, which was included in the celebratory exhibition when the new lions were due to be installed in Lister Park. I also facilitated drawing with wire drop in session on the theme of lions for the Big Draw.

Artworks Associate artists 2008:

As part of the Artworks Associate Artist training programme, I delivered a session called 'Cardboard Worlds,' in which participants debated what would need to exist in their ideal world and then came together to create this world out of cardboard sheets.

Natural Play & Outdoor Space:

I delivered a series of workshops which served as community consultation and design sessions for a new natural play space in Holmewood in Bradford. Working with another artist and in collaboration with the Play Team, we delivered sessions such as junk modelling, earth & clay play, den building, willow sculpture & making art with natural materials. Please see the Consultations page for more information on this project.
